Margaret Fingerhut è pianista con un repertorio vastissimo, dai capolavori della tradizione alla produzione di autori meno noti. Tale peculiarità contraddistingue una ragguardevole carriera internazionale, svolta in Europa, Stati Uniti, Canada, Giappone e Cina. Significativa nei programmi presentati come nella discografia per l'etichetta Chandos la scelta di autori quali Bax, Berkeley, Bloch, Dukas, Falla, Howells, Leighton, Novák, Stanford, Suk... accanto alla predilezione per la produzione russa del XIX secolo e francese dell'inizio '900. Le registrazioni dell'Ottetto (con l' Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields) e del Concertante (per pianoforte, mano sinistra, e Orchestra, con la BBC Philarmonic) di Arnold Bax sono state selezionate per i Gramophone awards, mentre il disco monografico sull'opera pianistica di A. Tansman ha ottenuto in Francia il Dipason d'oro. MF ha registrato, tra gli inediti, i frammenti del movimento lento del Concerto di Elgar e pagine di Bainton, Howells, Leighton, Lennox Berkeley e Michael Berkeley meritando “la più sincera ammirazione per il lavoro di promozione del repertorio pianistico inglese del XX secolo” (MusicWeb International). In qualità di solista con l'Orchesttra si è esibita con la London Symphony, London Philharmonic, Philharmonia Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, BBC Scottish Symphony e con i London Mozart Players; tra le sedi: Royal Festival Hall, Royal Albert Hall e Barbican Hall. E' ospite della BBC Radio 3, Classic FM e varie emittenti internazionali. Sensibile alla produzione contemporanea, ha eseguito prime assolute di Paul Spicer, James Francis Brown, Peter Copley e Tony Bridgewater, presso Wigmore Hall, Purcell Room, Three Choirs Festival...
MF è docente di pianoforte al Trinity Laban Conservatoire e Visiting Tutor al Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, oltre ad essere invitata a svolgere masterclass in Europa e oltreoceano.

Margaret Fingerhut has had a distinguished career which has taken her to many different countries. She has become particularly known for her innovative recital programmes in which she explores the highways and byways of the piano repertoire. As a concerto soloist she has appeared with the London Symphony Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and the London Mozart Players, in major venues such as the Royal Festival Hall, Royal Albert Hall and the Barbican. She is often heard on BBC Radio 3 and Classic FM and many radio stations worldwide. Her extensive discography on the Chandos label has received worldwide critical acclaim. Her numerous discs reflect her long-standing fascination with exploring lesser-known repertoire, including works by Bax, Berkeley, Bloch, Dukas, Falla, Grieg, Howells, Leighton, Novák, Stanford and Suk as well as several pioneering collections of 19th century Russian and early 20th century French piano music. She was the soloist in the première recording of Elgar's sketches for his Piano Concerto slow movement, arranged by Percy Young. Two of her Bax recordings - the Octet with the Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields Chamber Ensemble and the Concertante for Piano Left Hand and Orchestra with Vernon Handley and the BBC Philharmonic - were short-listed for Gramophone awards. Her disc of solo piano music by the Polish/French composer Alexandre Tansman was awarded the accolade of “Diapason D’Or” in France. Her CD of encores "Endless Song" was Featured Album of the Week on Classic FM and was selected as “Editor's Choice” in Pianist magazine as well as being awarded an "Outstanding" accolade in International Record Review.
MF maintains a keen interest in working with contemporary composers and she has given first performances of works by Paul Spicer, James Francis Brown, Peter Copley and Tony Bridgewater, in venues such as the Wigmore Hall, Purcell Room and at the Three Choirs Festival. She's a Professor of Piano at Trinity Laban Conservatoire and a Visiting Tutor at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire where she was awarded an Honorary Fellowship. She has given masterclasses in the USA, Canada, China and Japan, and she is a regular guest at international summer schools such as Chetham's, Jackdaws and Dartington. www.margaretfingerhut.co.uk
